PyCon USA 2026
May 30, 2026

2026 was the best year. This was also the year when one of my best posters got accepted into the world's largest PyCon, and that was PyCon USA 2026.
I've been contributing to the Python scientific community since 2020 and wrote one research paper in the scientific Python conference or SciPy. I always wanted to meet people offline and discuss different perspectives.

This year my poster was about Cost & Energy of Everyday LLM Workloads. We spend a lot of energy on just one forward and backward pass in inferencing an LLM, and the process consumes a lot of water. There is an amount of cost associated with all of this. We wanted to show how various models (distilled, quantized, normal, fine-tuned, etc.) can be combined together and optimized for best use cases. I wanted to describe all of it in a very engaging poster in a simple and engaging style.

Besides all of this, I had a great time meeting the tech community there. We met the founder of Python and got a bunch of swags. As usual, Long Beach is a very nice place. I went ahead and spent the weekend in Laguna Beach, which is only a few miles away. All in all, it was a wholesome experience.
